Liquid rhinoplasty, often referred to as a non-surgical nose job, is a cosmetic procedure that enhances the shape and appearance of the nose without the need for traditional surgery. This minimally invasive technique utilizes dermal fillers, primarily hyaluronic acid, to achieve the desired results in a much simpler and quicker manner than conventional surgical rhinoplasty. Liquid rhinoplasty allows individuals to reshape and contour their nasal profile, addressing concerns such as bumps, asymmetries, and other aesthetic goals related to facial aesthetics.

Dr. Sean Younai of the California Center for Plastic Surgery is talented in both surgical and non-surgical rhinoplasty techniques. With his expert guidance, you can achieve a nose that functions and looks the way you want it to.

About Liquid Rhinoplasty

Liquid rhinoplasty is a simple and effective way to improve the overall appearance of the nose with minimal downtime. As the central feature of the face, the nose can significantly impact one’s self-confidence and overall aesthetic harmony. Many individuals seek liquid rhinoplasty because they feel their nose deviates from their ideal aesthetic vision, which can lead to feelings of self-consciousness or dissatisfaction with their appearance. (1)

In the practice of liquid rhinoplasty, a qualified plastic surgeon will use specialized injection techniques to place dermal fillers precisely within targeted areas of the nasal structure. The primary material used in most cases is hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring substance in the body that provides hydration and volume. With the proper skill and experience, Dr. Younai can address common concerns such as creating a straighter nose, smoothing out bumps, enhancing nose tip definition, or even correcting minor irregularities resulting from previous surgical procedures.

Choosing liquid rhinoplasty offers a less invasive treatment option compared to traditional surgery, with minimal recovery times and noticeable results. Surgical rhinoplasty is one of the most complex procedures in cosmetic surgery, as surgeons have to account for each patient’s unique nose, the genetic and ethnic traits present in the nose, and more while also ensuring corrections can be made without altering nasal functions. Because of this, liquid rhinoplasty treatments offer less complex solutions that allow patients to explore their nasal reshaping options without the risks involved in surgery. (1)

Benefits

Liquid rhinoplasty treatments offer patients multiple advantages, especially when compared to surgical rhinoplasty. With expert guidance from Dr. Younai, patients can often expect:

  • Non-surgical treatments: Unlike traditional rhinoplasty, liquid rhinoplasty does not involve invasive surgery or long incisions.
  • Minimal downtime: Most patients can return to normal activities immediately following the treatment, making it an appreciated option for those with busy lifestyles.
  • Immediate results: Patients can see the effects of the injections right away, allowing for instant improvements in their nasal appearance.
  • Adjustability: The results can be fine-tuned during the appointment, ensuring that the fulfillment of aesthetic goals is met.
  • Reversibility: If a patient does not love the results or wishes to alter their look, hyaluronic acid injectables can be dissolved with a specific enzyme called hyaluronidase.
  • Improved facial symmetry: Liquid rhinoplasty allows for subtle adjustments to enhance overall facial symmetry, promoting a harmonious appearance.
  • No general anesthesia required: The procedure can be performed using local anesthetic or topical numbing agents, minimizing risks associated with anesthesia. Some treatments may not require any anesthetic at all.

Candidates

Ideal candidates for liquid rhinoplasty are dissatisfied with the shape or appearance of their noses and seek minor adjustments rather than drastic changes. Patients who receive these treatments are typically those who prefer non-invasive procedures with minimal recovery time. Patients should have realistic expectations concerning the outcome of the treatment and not have active infections or severe skin conditions affecting the nasal area. A personal consultation with Dr. Younai will determine whether liquid rhinoplasty is suitable based on your specific concerns and anatomy.

Personal Consultation

The first step in your liquid rhinoplasty journey is to schedule a personal consultation at the California Center for Plastic Surgery. • Discontinuing the use of certain medications and supplements that can increase bleeding risks, such as aspirin or ibuprofen.
  • Avoiding alcohol consumption for several days leading up to your procedure.
  • Arrange appropriate transportation home after the treatment if necessary, although many patients do not require assistance.
  • Following any additional guidance provided by Dr. Younai.

Procedure

Dr. Sean Younai California Center for Plastic Surgery

Liquid rhinoplasty is a simple procedure that can yield impressive results in little time. The procedure lasts between 15 to 30 minutes. Before receiving your injections, a topical anesthetic cream can be applied to minimize discomfort. Liquid rhinoplasties can be performed with either hyaluronic acid fillers or with calcium hydroxylapatite. (1) Hyaluronic acid is commonly used due to its biocompatibility, safety, and ability to produce natural results. Hyaluronic acid fillers can last anywhere from six months to over a year, depending on individual metabolism and the filler injected.

Calcium hydroxylapatite is a more robust filler that can create more significant structural changes, though it is not as commonly used as hyaluronic acid. (2) Each treatment plan is personalized based on the patient’s unique needs and desired outcomes, making a thorough examination and consultation vital for determining the best approach. Once your unique plan is constructed, you will receive your injections. Using a very fine needle, the injector carefully injects the chosen dermal filler into specific areas of the nose. This may include the bridge or tip, depending on the desired changes. After injection, the injector may gently mold and smooth the filler to achieve a natural contour and symmetry. Any supplemental filler and final touches are added to achieve the desired results. (2) The entire treatment is monitored, and adjustments are made as needed. Afterward, a gentle massage may be performed to ensure even distribution of the filler.

Recovery

Following liquid rhinoplasty, most patients experience minimal discomfort and swelling. However, some common post-procedural effects may include mild swelling at the injection sites, bruising, which usually resolves within a week, and redness or slight tenderness. Patients can typically resume most normal activities right away but should avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours. It is advisable to prevent pressure on the treated area while it settles.

Results

Some of the results from liquid rhinoplasty can be seen immediately, with the final results typically developing within a few days. The enhancements should appear natural and harmonize well with your facial features. Depending on the product used, results can last from six months to two years. Regular maintenance sessions can keep your aesthetic goals on track.

Corresponding Procedures

Dr. Younai also performs traditional surgical rhinoplasty in addition to liquid rhinoplasty. These procedures use surgical methods to make permanent corrections to one’s nose. Liquid rhinoplasty can be beneficial for patients who want minor corrections to their noses or who wish to experiment with different appearance options, but it is not ideal for every patient. Patients who desire smaller noses may especially have a difficult time achieving their results with liquid rhinoplasty. Fortunately, Dr. Younai’s meticulous planning and extreme attention to detail allow rhinoplasty patients to experience impressive results and enjoy life with a nose that they love.
